Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu shared his assessments regarding statements on early elections coming from the ruling front. Meeting with Ankara representatives of television channels for breakfast, Kılıçdaroğlu argued that Parliament is not prepared for such a decision.
When asked about the remarks made by Chief Advisor to the President Mehmet Uçum regarding an early election, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that this might be a "wish." Expressing that Turkey must first emerge from its current problematic situation, Kılıçdaroğlu said that an early election could only come to the agenda as a result of the government's crisis of inability to govern.
With the country in this state, with it being a place of fire, what early election are you going to hold? You see the economy, you see the fund scandal, you see the corruption, you see the extraordinary deterioration in income distribution.
Kılıçdaroğlu also addressed the claim that the government might be making election calculations by transferring CHP mayors. Stating that such an assumption would not find a response, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "The mayor went on his own. Those who voted for him have already shown their reactions."
Stating that they would not make a special effort for an early election, Kılıçdaroğlu nevertheless expressed that if such a topic were to come to Turkey's agenda, they would not take a stance against it. Kılıçdaroğlu said, "If they cannot do it, if they cannot manage, then naturally an election will come about on its own."
Kılıçdaroğlu was also asked about the potential granting of a status to Abdullah Öcalan and the work of the sub-commission on disarmament. Stating that discussions on the subject are ongoing, Kılıçdaroğlu assessed, "What is important is not granting a status to an individual, but that Öcalan also contributes to the resolution of the problem."
We must socialize the problem far beyond personalizing it. Turkey must overcome this problem and ensure peace within itself.
