CHP leader Özel issues 'France' call
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has issued a call to Turks who will vote in the second round of the general elections to be held in France tomorrow. Özel urged Turkish voters living in France to go to the polls against the far-right and cast their votes in favor of democracy.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel issued a call regarding the second round of the parliamentary elections to be held in France tomorrow during his speech at the Socialist International Europe Committee meeting he attended in Bucharest.
Özgür Özel stated, "I once again invite all French-citizen Turks who will vote in France tomorrow and who value our words to go to the polls against the far-right and cast their votes in favor of democracy."
ELECTION EXCITEMENT IN FRANCE
Citizens in France will vote tomorrow for the second round of the snap elections called by President Emmanuel Macron. The first round of the snap general elections, in which the far-right came in first, was held in the country on June 30.
In the first round, the National Rally (RN), of which far-right politician Marine Le Pen is a member, came in first in 297 of the 577 constituencies with around 33 percent of the vote. The New Popular Front Alliance, consisting of an alliance of 4 leftist and environmentalist parties, came in second with 28 percent, while Macron's "Together for the Republic" alliance placed third with 20 percent of the vote.
Voting for the second round will begin tomorrow at 08:00 local time and end at 18:00. In large cities such as Paris, voting will be possible until 20:00.
