CHP leader Özel's 'Lebanon' reaction to Erdoğan: 'I expect him to sit down with Assad and send the refugees back to their countries'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel answered questions from members of the press before the Vestel Half Marathon held in Manisa. 

Highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:

'BUILDINGS SHOULD BE SEIZED AND TRANSFERRED TO THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH'

"We are facing a shameful gang targeting newborns that none of us can tolerate anymore. Today, I am making a call once again from my hometown, Manisa. Those involved in this disgrace should not be tried for professional misconduct due to their duties; they should be tried for intentional homicide and should not be allowed to see the light of day. Every hospital involved should be nationalized, and their assets and buildings should be seized and transferred to the Ministry of Health.

During the state of emergency, the government used the powers of Parliament to seize all assets of the cult involved in the July 15 coup attempt. Today, there is no need for a decree-law (KHK). As the main opposition, I am making a proposal. Let them come, and let us seize all their assets on behalf of the public as a lesson to everyone. We need to take the most severe measures. 

ERDOĞAN IS THE FOUNDER OF THIS SYSTEM

The current Minister was the Provincial Health Director at that time. We are finding out about a matter they were aware of 19 months later. There is very serious negligence here, but the Minister of Health of those days is also responsible if they did not pursue it. The primary person responsible is the one who says 'I am the one in charge,' Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. They are secondary responsibles. The reason why health has been so commodified and commercialized in this country, and why there are many intensive care units in private hospitals where these children are referred and kept, but few in state hospitals, is the founder of this system, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who boasts about establishing it. 

EUROFIGHTER AND REFUGEES

Yesterday, while seeing off Scholz, Erdoğan said that if new refugees come from Lebanon, our door is open. Let us ask who in this country thinks like this, other than Erdoğan. Did those who voted for the AKP vote for this? He says our door is open if they come from Syria or Lebanon. Assad issued a general amnesty. They are returning to their countries according to that general amnesty. While I expect them to return quickly, and while he should be talking to Assad, he is talking about new refugees. It is enough to drive one crazy. 

One plane of refugees will come from Germany every day. He has agreed to that. They say he is also taking the refugees in Germany; the Germans are very happy. He will also keep those coming from Lebanon in Turkey. 

He is taking refugees from Germany in exchange for buying Eurofighters. He did not show enough reaction when he was previously removed from the F-35 program, and furthermore, he says our door is open to those coming from Lebanon. 

I do not expect him to sit down with Scholz to make a deal to bring in new refugees; I expect him to sit down with Assad and send the existing refugees back to their country. I am complaining about this to all the voters who voted for him."
