CHP mayor visits Menzil! Advisor shares post on social media calling them 'our neighbors'...

CHP Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, chief advisor Halil Hayta, and their accompanying delegation visited the Serhendi Association, known for its proximity to the Menzil Community, last weekend.

Bahçetepe's chief advisor Halil Hayta shared photos of the visit on his social media account with the note: "Continuing to visit our neighbors in Gaziosmanpaşa. Together with our mayor, we visited our Serhendi Association to continue finding solutions on how to govern our district even better..."

"WE CONDEMN THE RELATIONSHIP HE ESTABLISHED"

According to the report by Gerçek Gündem; while reactions to Bahçetepe's visit were mounting, the ÇYDD Gaziosmanpaşa Branch issued a statement that included the following remarks:

"The Association for Supporting Contemporary Living is obligated to combat such structures in line with Atatürk's Principles and Revolutions and the teachings of our mentor Türkan Saylan, as stated in our charter and with the authority received from the great Turkish Nation. As the ÇYDD Gaziosmanpaşa Branch, we condemn the relationship established by the Mayor in question with religious sect structures, which are considered the greatest threat to the secular Republic and Atatürk's revolutions. We expect the competent authorities to carry out the necessary legal procedures regarding this matter, and we reiterate that we will always follow up on this issue."

AVOIDED MAKING A STATEMENT

Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, who was reached by Gerçek Gündem, did not wish to make a statement regarding the matter.

SUPPORT FOR BAHÇETEPE FROM ADD

The Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD) Gaziosmanpaşa Branch stated, "We do not think he would act sympathetically toward religious sects or have a sincere meeting with them. Bahçetepe is a mayor who takes a stance in favor of the secular Republic and Atatürk's revolutions."
