CHP's Karabat on Arab capital: 'They will sell our Atatürk and Keban dams'

CHP Istanbul MP Özgür Karabat made statements on his X account, alleging that "a very deep operation is being carried out. Promises have been made to foreigners, especially to Arab capital."

Stating that "Turkey's remaining assets will be sold for the sake of the AKP's future," Karabat addressed Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek. 

HE DREW ATTENTION TO THE ENERGY SECTOR

Karabat's statements are as follows:

"1-They said foreign investment would arrive shortly after the election. No one came. Now they will carry out privatizations and present them as foreign investment.

2-A very deep operation is being carried out. Promises have been made to foreigners, especially to Arab capital. Very few assets remain in the public sector. Those are mainly power plants.

3-The entire energy distribution sector has been privatized. It was sold for 15 billion dollars in 2013. 21 distribution regions are under the control of private companies. We have repeatedly stated that distribution companies are not fulfilling their duties to the public.

4-More than 80 percent of electricity production is in the private sector. Now they will transfer 100 percent of it to private companies. They will sell our dams such as Atatürk, Keban, Karakaya, and Ilısu.

5-According to industry experts, the value of public power plants reaches 50 billion dollars. Mehmet Şimşek will save the day by selling these after the local elections.

6-The basis of Şimşek's promise that the disinflation and foreign investment process will begin in the second half of the year is not the CBRT's new monetary policies, but foreign currency inflows from privatization.

7-It is impossible to experience disinflation in Turkey without real structural reform, a transition to production, and the rule of law. Şimşek knows this very well, too. But because their political future has taken precedence over the future of the homeland, they will plunder public property.

8-I am warning Mehmet Şimşek again from here. Do not go down in history as the person who implemented the Palace's dirty plans! The path you are taking is not the right one. You will surely be held accountable."
