CHP MP Öztürkmen's question on 'Bilal Erdoğan's ships' blocked by Kurtulmuş: 'Violates internal regulations!'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Gaziantep MP Hasan Öztürkmen's parliamentary question submitted to the Ministry of Trade, which included the query "Are ships belonging to Bilal Erdoğan making shipments to Israeli ports?", was blocked by Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş.

KURTULMUŞ REFUSED TO PROCESS IT

CHP's Hasan Öztürkmen asked about the ships traveling from Turkey to Israel and the fate of the trade conducted throughout the process that began with Israel's occupation of Palestine. The parliamentary question, submitted on December 21 with the request for a response from Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, was blocked by Speaker of the Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş.

Stating that the Speaker of Parliament's refusal to process the motion was entirely political, Öztürkmen criticized the situation using verses by Aşık Mahzuni: "One cannot question the wisdom of the lords, there are secret things that are forbidden to be spoken."

"THEY ARE INCREASING TRADE VOLUMES WITH ISRAEL"

Stating that while many capital groups and political figures close to the government in Turkey publicly oppose Israel, they continue to increase their trade volumes with Israel in the background, Öztürkmen used the following expressions:

"I leave those who use a tragedy like Gaza as material for domestic public opinion through political opportunism, while on the other hand growing trade with Israel and sending all kinds of supplies to Israeli ports, to the conscience of our people.

It is tragic that Mr. Kurtulmuş returned our questions by citing the Parliament's Internal Regulations. Because the question we asked is an allegation that wounds consciences in the public eye, where reactions are growing, and which has not yet been given a satisfactory answer; it is far beyond a personal interpretation. After journalist Cihan shared the routes of the ships day by day, the sudden hiding of the route information of ships going to Israel also requires an explanation.

"First of all, as a human being and as a lawyer, I oppose this hypocrisy. Today, the issue is not Bilal Erdoğan alone; it is a matter of mentality. While all industrial organizations and individuals close to the government pose as monuments of conscience in society, they continue to increase their commercial support to the Israeli government on the other hand. It is impossible for us to remain indifferent to this; even if they find ways to leave our questions unanswered, we will continue to expose the government's hypocrisy to our people."

In the parliamentary question he submitted, CHP MP Öztürkmen had voiced the findings obtained by journalist Metin Cihan as a result of his research.

The motion included the question: "Is the allegation true that the ship named 'Halit Yıldırım', belonging to Manta Denizcilik, which is claimed to belong to Erdoğan's son Bilal Erdoğan, departed from İskenderun Port on October 11, 2023, and made a shipment to Israel on October 14, 2023?"
