CHP postpones Avcılar rally
Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek has passed away at Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital, where he was taken after suffering cardiac arrest due to electric shock. Following the tragic incident, the Republican People's Party (CHP) has decided to postpone the rally it planned to hold in Avcılar, Istanbul.
The CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency announced that the Avcılar rally, which was to be held as part of the "Defending the National Will" rallies initiated following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and the party's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu on corruption charges, has been postponed to next week due to Zeyrek's passing.
The official statement included the following: "Dear citizens of Istanbul, our Avcılar rally, which we planned to hold on Wednesday, June 11, has been postponed to the following week due to the passing of our Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek."
