CHP's Süllü on the party congress: Kılıçdaroğlu has no intention of staying

CHP Eskişehir Deputy Jale Nur Süllü made assessments regarding the ongoing debates within her party and the upcoming congress process. Süllü stated that the congress calendar will begin next month and that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has no intention of remaining as party leader.

Süllü stated, "I am certain that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has no intention of remaining as party leader. He has also expressed this in our conversations."

Recalling that she supported Kılıçdaroğlu at the 2023 congress, Süllü argued that Özgür Özel and his team have failed to follow a unifying path following the congress. Stating that there has been a serious fracture and division in the party following the "absolute nullity" process, Süllü emphasized that the CHP is the guarantor of democracy in Turkey.

Suggesting that preparations to leave the CHP were not new, Süllü said, "We are learning that the CHP was already being viewed as a burden for a year. The paths to leaving the CHP were being paved. All of this has now come to light."

Emphasizing that the CHP is not a "leader-centric party," Süllü noted that figures who left the party in the past have returned later. Süllü expressed that party leaders are temporary, while the party program and political principles are permanent.

Pointing to the congress process, Süllü said, "By leaving behind all the criticisms directed at the CHP and returning to our original founding settings, we will rebuild a CHP that our citizens truly long for, together with those who remain."

Criticizing the new party formed under the leadership of Özgür Özel, Süllü expressed that she does not find the break from the CHP to be correct. Stating that she had previously worked in politics with those who left, Süllü said, "The friends who left are people I have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with. I cannot understand why they left."

Touching upon the situation in Eskişehir, Süllü noted that individuals she had worked with since the previous term have left, stating, "I am the only remaining CHP deputy in Eskişehir. Naturally, this process places more responsibility on me."

Stating that those who left could return, Süllü conveyed that both she and Kılıçdaroğlu have expressed that the struggle must be continued within the CHP. Süllü noted that the call to "not leave, stay" was not heeded, and added that she believes those who moved to the new structure are "embarking on an adventure."
