CHP Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül has submitted a legislative proposal to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for a one-time amnesty for those whose driver's licenses have been confiscated.
Speaking at a press conference in Parliament, Sarıgül stated that the legislative proposal includes a one-time amnesty for everyone who has not committed crimes involving loss of life, physical injury, or substance abuse.
"OUR DRIVERS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MANY YEARS"
Expressing that if the proposal he submitted to the Speaker of the TBMM is supported and enacted, citizens whose licenses were confiscated and whose livelihood depends on driving will have the opportunity to return to their jobs, Sarıgül noted that there are truck and taxi drivers who lost their jobs after their licenses were taken away.
Sarıgül said, "Our drivers have been waiting for many years to regain their licenses. It is essential for the TBMM to make a regulation on this matter. Our citizens who are victims of license confiscation are experiencing economic hardship. The enactment of my driver's license amnesty proposal will make our professional drivers happy."
