CHP takes action over 'IMM case exchange' allegations

The CHP will file an application with the HSK this week regarding the 'IMM Case Exchange' allegations. Evaluating the developments on the matter, CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel stated that the party has long argued that a 'law of enmity' is being applied. Yücel said, "Although our mayors have stated that they are always ready to testify, they are taken from their homes in the early hours of the morning and arrested. However, the situation of a lawyer who was caught while trying to flee in Antalya and released under house arrest is unacceptable."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed the 'IMM Case Exchange' allegations and the party's summer field work during the Central Executive Board meeting. According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the decision to place lawyer Mehmet Yıldırım, who was taken into custody, under house arrest was also discussed at the meeting. Party officials criticized the situation, stating, "He is the one with the actual flight risk. The detention period is being rushed because if he talks, the system will collapse."

THE 'OPENING' COMMISSION AND CHP'S PROPOSALS

The CHP also made statements regarding the meeting of the new 'opening' process commission. Party staff emphasized that the commission meetings should be transparent. CHP leader Özel stated, "We will not open the fundamental principles of the Republic to debate," adding that they will propose inviting families of martyrs and veterans to the commission.

DETAILS OF THE COMPLAINT TO BE FILED WITH THE HSK

Regarding the 'IMM Case Exchange' allegations, Deniz Yücel drew attention to the testimony of detained suspect Murat Kapki on August 7. Kapki had said, "Lawyers say they can secure a release in exchange for money." Yücel stated that it must be questioned who these lawyers are and what the prosecutor's office is doing about this matter. The CHP will file a new complaint with the HSK this week, and CHP Deputy Chairman Gül Çiftçi will make a detailed statement once the application is made.
