CHP visits Selahattin Demirtaş! 'We exchanged views'
CHP's Namık Tan visited Selahattin Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne Prison, to discuss current political issues.
Namık Tan, the Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman responsible for Foreign Policy and Istanbul MP, visited former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who is being held in Edirne Prison. Tan shared his statements regarding this visit on social media.
Tan stated that he conveyed the greetings of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to Demirtaş and noted that Demirtaş was in good spirits. He said that they exchanged views on current political developments during the visit.
In his post regarding the visit, Tan used the following expressions:
“Today, I went to Edirne and visited one of the political prisoners, the esteemed Selahattin Demirtaş. Demirtaş, to whom I also had the opportunity to convey our Chairman's greetings, was in his usual high spirits. We exchanged views on current political developments.
We will follow the cases of our citizens who are unjustly and unlawfully held in dungeons to the end, such as Demirtaş, our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, our imprisoned mayors, Can Atalay, Osman Kavala, Figen Yüksekdağ, journalist Furkan Karabay, Fatih Altaylı, and Ayşe Barım.
We will surely reunite our Republic with democracy, the rule of law, and freedom of expression.”
