Striking call from CHP's Yavuzyılmaz to Minister Ersoy: 'Put down the lighter in your hand'

CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz has harshly criticized Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy for removing the Foundations Archive—which is located in Ankara's Ulus district and houses 50 thousand foundation charters as well as thousand-year-old documents—from the care of expert authorities and transferring it to the Yunus Emre Foundation.

In a statement made via social media, Yavuzyılmaz described this decision by Minister Ersoy as "a terrifying act of irresponsibility." Describing the handover of the archive to the Yunus Emre Foundation, which has been associated with past allegations of fake invoice fraud, as "entrusting the liver to the cat," Yavuzyılmaz demanded that this decision be reversed immediately.

Yavuzyılmaz stated that expert authorities must be reassigned to protect the archive and expressed that, otherwise, the government would be held responsible should the archive suffer any damage.

This development has also resonated in the political arena. While opposition parties criticize the government's policies regarding the protection of cultural heritage, the reasoning behind Minister Ersoy's decision has become a subject of curiosity.

The Yunus Emre Foundation, for its part, stated that it would take the necessary measures to protect the archive, despite past allegations. However, these statements were not enough to silence the opposition's criticisms.

This incident has reignited debates regarding the protection and management of Turkey's cultural heritage.

HERE IS THE POST BY CHP'S YAVUZYILMAZ:

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, put down the lighter in your hand immediately!

Following his terrifying irresponsibility in the Kartalkaya disaster, the Minister of Culture and Tourism is now seeking to destroy the world's largest Foundations Archive.

As of July 8, 2025;

The Foundations Archive in Ankara's Ulus district, which contains 50 thousand foundation charters and unique thousand-year-old documents, has been left unattended.

The Minister first removed the expert authorities who were protecting and conducting research in the Foundations Archive from the building and assigned them to another address.

Then, he handed over the building along with the archive inside to the Yunus Emre Foundation.

This priceless world archive has been, in plain sight;

Left to the mercy of the notorious Yunus Emre Foundation, whose name is associated with fake invoice fraud.

In other words, the liver has been entrusted to the cat!

Turn back from this mistake immediately, bring the expert authorities who protect the archive back to the building, and cancel the allocation of this building to the notorious Yunus Emre Foundation.

Otherwise, you are already the ones responsible for any fires that could destroy this archive!

In other words, the AK Party!
