Citizens react to AKP's Abdullah Güler: 'They ruined us, should pensioners just die?'

Speaking at the ceremony held for the 105th anniversary of the Sivas Congress, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel emphasized the democratic processes followed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during the congress. 

Reminding that Atatürk negotiated for hours with those who opposed him and made all decisions by majority vote, Özel criticized the fights occurring in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and stated that it is important to recall this democratic stance.

In his speech, Özel said: "At the Sivas Congress, all structures fighting against the occupation in Anatolia were united under the name of the Societies for the Defense of Rights of Anatolia and Rumelia. This society is the structure that formed the backbone of the War of Independence and transformed into the Republican People's Party on the path to the establishment of the republic. Atatürk recorded this great truth in his Nutuk (Speech) at the congress held in 1927."

Özgür Özel emphasized that they continue the struggle to protect and exalt the republic with the inspiration they received from the founding cadres. Stating, "Our goal is to leave a stronger, richer, freer, and fairer Turkey as a legacy to future generations. This is our historical responsibility," Özel noted that the collective decisions of the nation's representatives create social consensus and bring the greatest successes.

CITIZEN REACTS TO ABDULLAH GÜLER

Following Özgür Özel's speech, citizens reacted to AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, who took the podium. One of the citizens who left the area during Güler's speech expressed their reaction by saying, "They have ruined us for 23 years, we are pensioners. They destroyed us. Can't we criticize, brother? Can't we tell the truth? Then should the pensioners just die?"
