Following the March 31 Local Elections, the AKP MKYK met under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

It was learned that Erdoğan, who issued a 'warning against arrogance' during the meeting where the election defeat was discussed, gave signals of change.

According to the report by Selda Güneysu from Cumhuriyet; it was noted that Erdoğan told his staff, “There will be a change of guard. The necessary changes will be made.” However, it is also noted in the corridors that Erdoğan “will not make the changes all at once, but will carry them out through a party congress.” It is stated that the AKP congress is expected to convene around the end of October, and that a decision for the congress will be taken at the MKYK meeting to be held in May.

On the other hand, it was learned that a debate took place during the critical meeting regarding the City Restaurant project implemented by IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in Istanbul.

An MKYK member stated that one of the reasons for losing the elections in Istanbul was the “City Restaurants,” which the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) IMM candidate Murat Kurum had described by saying, “They are presenting the food they sell for a fee as if it were a great achievement.” Upon this, it was noted that Erdoğan became “angry” and reacted by saying, “Can an election be lost because of a City Restaurant? Why would this happen?”

Furthermore, it was learned that Erdoğan once again acknowledged at the MKYK that the most important reason for the election defeat was “high inflation.” It was reported that Erdoğan instructed his staff to “also conduct work regarding markets that increase prices for profit.”
