According to a report by Ekonomim, it is alleged that Gül called AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to say that his initiative to form a party would not harm the AKP and that he had no such intention.

PREPARATION FOR THE POST-ERDOĞAN ERA

It was claimed that Gül and his inner circle are positioning themselves for the post-Erdoğan era, that Gül views a new party and politics favorably, and that he even wants to be a presidential candidate in the elections, having shared this thought with Erdoğan.

It was stated that since Erdoğan cannot be a candidate again under the Constitution unless Parliament decides on early elections, Gül wants to be a candidate in a way that would also appeal to AKP voters.
