Claim of a 'Special Palace' for Öcalan: Two-stage plan prepared
İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez criticized the parliamentary reconciliation commission's visit to İmralı with harsh words, alleging that the government has prepared a two-stage plan for Öcalan and PKK members.
As debates continue regarding the "right to hope" and potential legal regulations that have been brought back to Turkey's agenda, İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez made striking assessments. Addressing the contacts made by members of the parliamentary reconciliation commission who went to İmralı Island to meet with Abdullah Öcalan, Çömez stated that the process contains many hidden elements.
SECRET VOTING AND CONCEALED MINUTES
According to Merve Kılıç from the newspaper Cumhuriyet, Çömez criticized the method by which the delegation went to İmralı, saying, "They held the vote in secret. They went to İmralı in secret. They kept the minutes secret. They hid 12 of the 16 pages. What are they chasing in secret, I wonder?"
CLAIM OF PREPARATIONS FOR AMNESTY
Çömez claimed that the government is "working on a regulation for the amnesty of organization members," arguing that this is part of a "regional project" they have been warning about for months. He suggested that "international powers trying to reshape the region" are behind this process.
WARNING OF A TWO-STAGE PLAN FOR TURKEY
Çömez stated that the regulation allegedly being prepared consists of two parts. According to this, the first stage includes the claim that "Öcalan will be removed from his current prison conditions and placed in a special area on İmralı that is more comfortable, resembling a small palace." Çömez alleged that this plan aims for Öcalan to direct the entire structure of the organization from there.
CLAIM OF AMNESTY FOR 9 THOUSAND PKK MEMBERS
Stating that a special amnesty regulation for approximately 9 thousand PKK members is on the agenda in the second stage of the plan, Çömez said, "Where do we learn this from? The British news agency Reuters announced it weeks ago."
According to Çömez, preparations are underway for various changes to the Turkish Penal Code, the Anti-Terror Law, and the execution system within this scope. He also stated that the government is opening relevant articles of the constitution to debate.
CLAIM OF "MOVING AWAY FROM THE DEFINITION OF TERROR"
Stating that the government does not prefer rhetoric such as a "terror-free Turkey," Çömez said, "Because they do not accept that what is happening is terrorism. What they want is the enactment of a special law under which 9 thousand PKK members will be pardoned."
