Claim that 'Temel Karamollaoğlu is stepping down as chairman'! Potential successors revealed

As Turkey leaves the March 31 Local Elections behind, winds of change have begun to blow within political parties.

Following the decision by İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener to call for a party congress and announce that she would not be a candidate, it has been claimed that Temel Karamollaoğlu has decided to step down as chairman of the Saadet Party.

Journalist Sinan Burhan suggested that the process for the change in chairmanship will begin in the coming days, starting with a meeting of the General Administrative Board, followed by the High Advisory Board, which he refers to as the 'White Beards'.

It was stated that Karamollaoğlu, who was elected chairman on October 30, 2016, at the 6th Ordinary Congress of the Saadet Party by receiving 871 out of 891 votes, has pointed toward a congress to be held for his departure. Party sources are planning for the 9th Ordinary Congress to be held in November.

GAB MEETING THIS WEEKEND

Meanwhile, the first General Administrative Board (GAB) meeting of the Saadet Party following the elections will take place this weekend with the participation of provincial chairs.

During the meeting, comprehensive evaluations will be made regarding the election results and the path the party will follow in the upcoming period.

WHICH NAMES ARE BEING DISCUSSED FOR THE CHAIRMANSHIP?

Sinan Burhan stated that the names of Birol Aydın, Mesut Doğan, Mahmut Arıkan, and Ömer Ayhan have emerged as potential candidates.

He suggested that among these four names, Ömer Ayhan and Mahmut Arıkan are currently standing out.
