AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's instruction to "shake up the municipalities" was followed by action from the Social Security Institution (SGK).

According to reports by Sözcü TV, the SGK withdrew money from the accounts of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB).

It had been stated that 15 million TL was withdrawn from the ABB's accounts.

Making statements regarding the matter, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality stated that there was no foreclosure process against them.
