Condolence message from MHP Chairman Bahçeli for Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı

MHP Chairman Bahçeli shared the following statement on his social media account:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our esteemed and exceptional scholar, Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, who was raised by the Turkish nation and provided immense services in the formation and maturation of historical consciousness through his pen and words.

The late Ortaylı was one of the intellectual and enlightened figures of Turkish intellectual life.

He was a valuable personality who succeeded in penetrating the depths of Turkish history, while simultaneously completing and fulfilling the task of explaining, introducing, and presenting it with the skill of an understandable language and style, backed by his profound knowledge.

Although the death of a scholar is described as the death of the world, this historian of ours will always live and be kept alive in the collective conscience through his works, words, advice, and foresight.

I pray for God's mercy upon the late Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı.

I extend my patience and condolences to his grieving family, the Turkish academic community, and, of course, our dear nation.

May his place be in heaven and his soul be at peace."
