Intervention by Convention Chair Şükrü Kuleyin during İYI Party leadership candidate Günay Kodaz's speech! 'I acted as an older brother to you in the name of democracy!'

At the 5th Extraordinary Convention of the İYI Party, Founder Board Member Günay Kodaz was able to become a candidate by securing the necessary signatures at the last minute.

While Müsavat Dervişoğlu, Mehmet Tolga Akalın, and Koray Aydın collected the required signatures, the signature collection process for Günay Kodaz was extended by 10 minutes.

Convention Chair Şükrü Kuleyin stated, "Dear delegates, the signatures for Mr. Müsavat, Mr. Koray, and Mr. Tolga have been completed. Only Ms. Günay's remains. I am granting a 10-minute extension for her to complete hers as well. We would appreciate it if you could assist Ms. Günay within these 10 minutes."

REQUESTED SIGNATURES FROM OTHER CANDIDATES

Attempting to persuade delegates by speaking with them individually, Kodaz also requested signatures from her rivals, Müsavat Dervişoğlu and Koray Aydın. Having reached the required 80 signatures, Kodaz delivered the documents to the chair herself.

Taking the podium after Dervişoğlu, Akalın, and Aydın, Kodaz said, ''The İYI Party must survive and our efforts to date must not go to waste,'' and spoke as follows;

"May the İYI Party live on, may our efforts in the İYI Party not go to waste, may it come to power, may it be a party where the rule of law prevails, may it be a party where justice exists, and may it bring justice and the rule of law to the country. Therefore, I am sure that I will receive significant acceptance when I address the delegates because many delegates have indicated that they very much desire to listen to me on stage. But I also believed that a woman should represent the democratic face, the naive face, the young face of the İYI Party, as well as the knowledgeable face of people with the quality to create a prosperous Turkey. For this reason, I pushed all the conditions. And by pushing those conditions, I obtained the opportunity to be on the podium today. Therefore, it is a necessity for the İYI Party to survive and come to power. As a woman who has engaged in politics alongside him for a long time, like 8 years, I may not be able to fill his shoes. I can take his place as a female leader. I wish him success in his future life."

As Kodaz continued her speech, Convention Chair Şükrü Kuleyin intervened. Kuleyin requested that Kodaz end her speech, saying, "I acted as an older brother to you in the name of democracy. Please, my dear Günay, I ask you to conclude your remarks." Kodaz, who asked for 3 more minutes, completed her speech.

Following Kodaz's speech, the voting process began as of 15:45.
