Convention day in CHP: Notable detail regarding İmamoğlu in the protocol
The CHP drew attention at the extraordinary convention held in Ankara by reserving a seat labeled "Presidential Candidate" for the imprisoned Ekrem İmamoğlu.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had announced that he decided to hold an extraordinary convention to dispel rumors of a trustee being appointed to his party. This decision came following the imprisonment of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 23.
Özel had announced that the convention would be held on Sunday, April 6, and that he would be a candidate again. The convention will begin at 10:00 AM at the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center in Ankara. Citizens will also be able to follow the convention from giant screens set up outside the hall.
While preparations for the convention are largely complete, a photo shared from the hall revealed the special seat reserved for İmamoğlu.
This seat was dedicated to İmamoğlu, who was chosen as the presidential candidate by the votes of 15.5 million citizens.
