The congress calendar for the YENİ Party continues ahead of the First Ordinary Convention to be held at the Ankara Arena on November 14-15. Following the provincial and district organizations, the party leadership plans to have the chairman determined through a primary election in which members will participate.
According to information obtained, the primary election for the chairmanship is envisioned to be held as a single-day vote one day before the convention. In this way, the party aims to highlight the direct participation of members in decision-making processes as part of its “new organizational model.”
As part of the congress process, primary election ballot boxes were set up in 69 provinces on October 17-18. Party officials stated that participation in the process, where provincial chairmen were determined by the votes of members, averaged 65 percent, and reached 80 percent in some provinces.
While provincial chairmen changed in 13 provinces during the elections, the founding provincial chairmen in Ankara, Istanbul, and İzmir continued in their roles. Party sources stated that determining provincial and district chairmen through the votes of members has strengthened local organizations and increased the representative quality of the elected individuals.
CONVENTION PREPARATIONS CONTINUE
The Convention Preparation Commission, established for the YENİ Party's convention, also continues its work. At the commission's fourth meeting held on October 21, the hall layout, slogans, theme, logistics, and technical preparations were discussed. It was stated that preparations are continuing under the coordination of the relevant deputy chairmen.
The election process is expected to be completed in 72 provinces with the official congresses to be held this week. It was reported that in Hakkari, Bayburt, and Muş, where the number of members is below 600, provincial chairmen will be determined by the votes of members at the official congress in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law on Political Parties.
Party officials announced that a special calendar will be prepared for the remaining nine provinces. It was noted that these provinces are located in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions and that the appointment of founding provincial chairmen did not catch up with the congress calendar due to the longer process required for these appointments.
Emphasizing inclusivity in management cadres, party sources noted that it is considered important for individuals who reflect the social and professional structure of the provinces, as well as young people and women, to take part in the management.
