Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known in the public eye as Cübbeli Ahmet, criticized the remarks made by Özgür Özel during his parliamentary group meeting while speaking about Mahmud, who lost his life after being electrocuted in a flood.
Ünlü stated that Özel, in his assessment of the incident, preferred to use the phrase "belonging to a specific community" instead of explicitly naming the community, adding that this raised questions for him.
Noting that he himself had mentioned in his own talks that Mahmud was affiliated with the İsmailağa Community, Ünlü described Özel's failure to mention this name as a "double standard."
Did he not want to upset them because he knows that many people in the İsmailağa Community voted for Ekrem due to being from Trabzon? Yet, if such a situation had occurred in an institution associated with me, he and others would certainly have named us.
In his statement, Ünlü expressed his belief that Özel "did not speak the truth and did not act courageously" on this matter.
