'Decay in the judiciary' reaches the Chief Prosecutor: That judge has also filed a lawsuit!

Following the petition written by Istanbul Anatolian Chief Prosecutor İsmail Uçar regarding allegations of 'decay in the judiciary', Sidar Demiroğlu, President of the Istanbul Anatolian 21st High Criminal Court, has filed a criminal complaint with the HSK against Uçar, alleging 'misconduct in office, slander, defamation, violation of the confidentiality of an investigation, and insulting state institutions and organs.'

According to Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz, Demiroğlu stated the following:

“Why has Uçar, who has been Chief Prosecutor for seven years, not made any negative allegations or filed a report regarding the alleged ‘decay’ concerning the courthouse where I have served for five years until now? What has changed in a month and a half that he has resorted to this path?”

Demiroğlu states that he stands behind his decisions. Explaining that all his decisions are open to appeal, Demiroğlu says:

“With what right and authority can the Chief Prosecutor, who did not appeal the decisions, accuse me? Is the Chief Prosecutor, whose appeals were rejected, also accusing the judges serving in the higher court?”

‘A FABRICATED ACCUSATION’

Demiroğlu also sent an additional statement petition to the HSK yesterday. Arguing that Uçar called a judge regarding a lawyer's divorce case, he continues: “The video recordings found on the phone of T.T., the spouse of lawyer E.T., which could be presented as evidence in the divorce, were destroyed by creating a fabricated investigation file under Uçar's direction and by going to T.T.'s house with a prosecutor's decision to seize digital materials.”

Demiroğlu also claims that Justice Commission member Nihat Zincirli requested an access ban decision regarding news reports alleging that he had “used his influence to have a beauty center in Ataşehir sealed” against CHP Istanbul Deputy Gamze Akkuş İlgezli.

Claiming that this decision was obtained from another judgeship, Demiroğlu directs the following questions at Uçar:

"How many times and why did he board the private jets of businessmen? With whom did he go abroad, and who covered the expenses? Where did he go with which lawyers? In whose private boxes did he watch matches?"
