Decision regarding Selçuk Tengioğlu, who attacked Özgür Özel
In the trial of Selçuk Tengioğlu, who physically assaulted CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, the court has ruled for the continuation of his detention. The defendant's request for release was denied, and the trial was adjourned until September 29.
Selçuk Tengioğlu, who punched Özgür Özel at the exit of the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) following the funeral attended by DEM Party MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder, appeared before the 44th Criminal Court of First Instance for the third time on charges of "intentional injury due to the public duty performed by the person."
"I AM VERY VICTIMIZED, I REQUEST MY RELEASE"
The prosecutor requested the continuation of Tengioğlu's detention. In his defense, Tengioğlu stated, "I did not intend to cause any harm. I am very victimized, I am suffering a lot. I request my release."
CRITICAL INTERIM DECISION FROM THE COURT
The court panel ruled that there was no need for CHP leader Özgür Özel to be heard in the trial.
Deciding that the defendant's detention should continue, the panel adjourned the case until September 29.
