Decision that will anger Bahçeli: Trustee's term extended
The Ministry of Interior has extended the term of the trustee appointed to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality by another 2 months. Devlet Bahçeli's call for Ahmet Türk to return to his post has not been met.
The Ministry of Interior has extended the term of Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun, who was appointed as a trustee to replace Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk following his removal from office, by another two months. Thus, the trustee administration in the city will continue for some time longer.
The trustee practice, the term of which is renewed at certain intervals, has been extended again as a result of an evaluation made within the framework of current legislation. With this decision, the municipal administration in Mardin will be carried out by the governor for at least two more months.
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had called for Ahmet Türk to return to his post in a speech at his party's parliamentary group meeting in recent months, stating, "Our decision is clear until Anatolia returns to peace, Öcalan to hope, the Ahmets (Ahmet Özer, Ahmet Türk) to their offices, and Demirtaş to his home." However, with the ministry's latest decision, this demand has not been met.
The trustee practice has been continuing intermittently at the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality for more than three years. Ahmet Türk, on the other hand, had been removed from office previously and had been on the agenda with various legal proceedings.
