Defense industry call from Yankı Bağcıoğlu

The General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will begin deliberations on the 2026 Central Government Budget Law Proposal on December 8. Ahead of this process, Yankı Bağcıoğlu, the CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for the Ministry of National Defense, made significant statements regarding defense industry projects and the rights of TSK personnel.

In his written statement, Bağcıoğlu emphasized that defense industry projects must be managed effectively. Considering the economic crisis and threats to national security, he stated that directing resources to the right projects is of vital importance. He specifically expressed that projects such as the Altay tank, Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe), and TF-2000 must be supported with realistic timelines.

RIGHTS OF TSK PERSONNEL AND FAMILIES OF MARTYRS

Bağcıoğlu stated that injustices regarding the personal rights of TSK personnel must be resolved, noting that low salaries and limited career opportunities are discouraging young people from pursuing military training. He also pointed out that retired personnel receive salaries below the poverty line.

Emphasizing that the problems faced by families of martyrs and veterans must be solved, Bağcıoğlu stated that 18 legislative proposals prepared on this matter have not been brought to the agenda of the TBMM. He added that the military health system must be re-established and demanded that concrete steps be taken in this regard.

Bağcıoğlu expressed their expectation that defense industry projects and the rights of TSK personnel be addressed as a priority during the budget negotiations. He emphasized that no time should be lost in terms of national security and the struggle of personnel to make a living.
