Pervin Buldan, a member of the DEM Party İmralı delegation, made assessments regarding the claim that "a villa was built for Öcalan," which became a subject of public debate following statements by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.
Speaking to Medyascope, Buldan said that characterizing the new structure built on İmralı as a "villa" does not reflect the truth. Buldan stated that as the DEM Party İmralı delegation, they went to the island two days ago and met with Öcalan.
Stating that the structure in question is located within the prison complex, Buldan expressed that it was built as a residence with suitable working conditions. According to Buldan, the purpose of the structure is to ensure that Öcalan can continue his discussions regarding the ongoing process under more suitable conditions.
The villa comparison has nothing to do with reality. It could even be said that the new structure is practically a part of the prison. Disarmament and politicization are a process. For this, Öcalan needs to be involved. Describing that place as a villa and a comfortable area with malicious intent has nothing to do with reality and is a malicious assessment.
Buldan also stated that Öcalan has not yet moved into the structure in question, saying, "Öcalan has not moved there yet because he needs a working team in that space."
