Deniz Yücel responds to criticisms regarding the CHP congress

CHP Party Spokesperson and İzmir Deputy Deniz Yücel responded sharply to the debates surrounding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress in a statement made via social media. Yücel stated that the congress was conducted in a transparent and unquestionable manner, in accordance with the principle of "Secret ballot, open count."

Yücel noted the following:

In our 38th Ordinary Congress, which has been kept on the agenda by certain circles in recent days, the voting, counting, and announcement of results were carried out in accordance with the 'Secret ballot, open count' principle, in a transparent manner, and free from any suspicion.

'EVERYONE DOES WHAT BEFITS THEM'

Despite this, discussing and causing others to discuss the Republican People's Party's 38th Ordinary Congress is merely grist for the government's mill. Attempting to have the congress annulled through the courts based on the claims of a few reckless individuals, after the objection processes before the election board were exhausted immediately after the congress, is, to put it mildly, insolence, and hoping for a result from this is weakness! Everyone does what befits them and takes their place in the pages of history with the stance they adopt during such critical processes.

'NO ONE HAS LEGAL SECURITY LEFT'

It is known to all of us that the investigations launched against our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who defeated the AKP and Erdoğan four times, as well as our other mayors, colleagues, and fellow travelers, and the detention and arrest processes applied, are political processes under the guise of law.

Objecting to these injustices directed at Mr. İmamoğlu and his colleagues in the strongest way and with the loudest voice is the duty of every Republican People's Party member, as well as the duty of every citizen of the Republic of Turkey who believes in the rule of law and democracy. In a country where the judiciary is a toy in the hands of the political power and has become an apparatus, no one has any legal security left. In such a regime, it is impossible to end the economic crisis, create employment, or ensure social peace and tranquility.

The Republican People's Party has become Turkey's leading party after 47 years, and in the first election, it will come to power with the self-confident political understanding of our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, who does not bow to injustices and lawlessness. With this management approach, it will bring the democracy that our country needs and deserves.
