Dervişoğlu reacts to judicial intervention

Meeting with retirees and citizens at a coffeehouse in Ulus, Ankara, İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu also visited local tradespeople and listened to the economic grievances of the public. Retirees attending the meeting complained that their pensions were not even enough to cover their basic needs, while Dervişoğlu argued that the economic problems stem from the current government system.

Dervişoğlu stated, "The first thing Turkey must get rid of is this order, described as the Presidential Government System, which is evolving into a one-man regime with each passing day. Turkey cannot be rid of its troubles without being rid of this. The Parliament's oversight authority has been weakened. We can effectively question neither the cabinet nor the government's actions. Checks and balances mechanisms are not working."

Responding to questions about the CHP convention on the agenda and the related judicial process, Dervişoğlu said that these events cannot be evaluated merely as an internal issue within the CHP. Emphasizing that judicial interventions in political parties create serious problems for the health of democracy, Dervişoğlu assessed, "Intervening in a congress held by a political party more than three years ago with a court decision today damages democracy."

Frequently encountering the dissatisfaction created by the economic picture in society during his visit, Dervişoğlu reacted to both the economic management and the lack of oversight in the political system. In his statements, he pointed out that for the country's democratic prosperity, the rule of law must be upheld and judicial intervention in internal party processes must be limited.
