Detained over assault allegations: Kula Mayor arrested
Hikmet Dönmez, the mayor of the Kula district in Manisa, has been arrested and sent to prison over allegations that he assaulted two people in his office.
Kula Mayor Hikmet Dönmez, who was detained as part of an investigation into the assault of two people in his office, had been referred to the courthouse. Following the referral, Mayor Dönmez was arrested on charges of assaulting two individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
M.U. and H.D., who were taken to the hospital the previous day and were identified as officials from a company that had received tenders from the municipality, claimed that they had gone to the Kula Municipality upon invitation after working hours, where they were assaulted in Mayor Dönmez's office. They reported the incident to the police. The police teams, who launched an investigation following the complaint, detained municipal staff members M.O.A. and R.G., and the two suspects were arrested after being referred to the courthouse.
As part of the investigation into the allegations made by the two individuals, who are still receiving treatment in the hospital, Mayor Hikmet Dönmez was also detained yesterday evening.
