DEVA Party MP Sadullah Kısacık: 'You are increasing the interest on loans taken by tradespeople by 120 percent, but has the profit of tradespeople increased by 120 percent?'

DEVA Party Adana MP Sadullah Kısacık held a press conference at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Kısacık criticized the increase in interest rates for tradespeople's loans during the conference. Kısacık stated, "You are increasing the interest on loans taken by tradespeople by 120 percent, but has the profit of tradespeople increased by 120 percent? If our tradespeople had known that interest rates would be increased like this, would they have taken on such debt?"

Kısacık said at the press conference he held in Parliament that Tradespeople and Craftsmen Credit and Surety Cooperatives have increased loan interest rates by up to 120 percent.

Stating that tradespeople are in a position where they cannot survive, Kısacık said, "Tradespeople's loans that were taken out previously and are still being repaid will also be affected by this interest rate hike. So I ask here: You are increasing the interest on loans taken by tradespeople by 120 percent, but has the profit of tradespeople increased by 120 percent? If our tradespeople had known that interest rates would be increased like this, would they have taken on such debt? This is setting a trap for tradespeople. While tradespeople were already unable to pay their loans, the interest was increased on top of that," he said.

Kısacık noted that economic stagnation, inflation, and the cost of living are increasing day by day, and that tradespeople are caught in a vice due to declining business and rising costs.

Expressing that supporting tradespeople means supporting Turkey and its nation, Kısacık spoke as follows:

"The increase in interest rates on loans used by tradespeople increases operating costs and narrows profit margins. This situation reduces the competitiveness of tradespeople and requires them to struggle more to survive. Moreover, this increase is taking place at a time when tradespeople are already struggling in a difficult economic environment."

Kısacık called on the government to find solutions to the problems of tradespeople.
