Devlet Bahçeli gives a striking response to a question about Demirtaş: 'You don't know us, our word is our bond'

While claims that Selahattin Demirtaş could be released continue to be discussed in political circles, a new assessment on the subject has come from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

Responding to journalists' questions after his party's parliamentary group meeting, Bahçeli made a brief but striking statement when reminded of the expectations regarding Demirtaş.

CLAIMS REGARDING DEMİRTAŞ'S RELEASE HAVE COME TO THE AGENDA

In recent days, media outlets close to the government have featured claims that former HDP Co-Chairman and presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş, who has been imprisoned in Edirne Prison for a long time, could be released in the autumn months.

Following these reports, eyes turned to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, who had previously made statements regarding Demirtaş.

JOURNALIST'S QUESTION TO BAHÇELİ ABOUT DEMİRTAŞ

After the group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, a journalist asked Bahçeli the following question:

"You had a call regarding Ahmet Özer and Ahmet Türk. At the same time, you had a call regarding Selahattin Demirtaş. What is your current expectation regarding steps being taken on this?"

Bahçeli gave the following response to this question:

"You don't know us! We have a characteristic. Our word is our bond."
