Devlet Bahçeli targets the Constitutional Court: 'It is a national security issue'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli spoke at his party's anniversary events.

Delivering a message regarding the local elections and criticizing the CHP, Bahçeli also targeted the Constitutional Court.

Highlights from Bahçeli's speech are as follows:

"THE ERA IS NOW THE TURKISH ERA"

"Distinguished guests, esteemed representatives of our media, I greet you all with my most heartfelt feelings. Today is the 55th anniversary of the MHP's founding. May it be auspicious, God willing. We have not compromised our principles or our love for the homeland. Traps were set, yet we did not deviate from our path. I pray that God grants us all the strength and quality we need. Welcome to the commemoration ceremony we organized for the 55th anniversary of the MHP's founding.

The babies and innocent people massacred in Gaza have revealed the pathetic state of the international community. With the peace project for humanity we have prepared, it has been documented that peace is actually a human right, just like freedom. We foresee that the hopes blossoming on the axis of the Turkic world will spread to every field and that the unity of the Turks will certainly be realized within this century. The era is now the Turkish era."

CRITICISM OF CHP AND DEM PARTY

We see the construction of a leading country and a superpower Turkey in 2053 as a long-term strategic goal.

What we have been saying for 55 years is this: a strong MHP means a coming Turkey. It is the coming Turkish century. The power of the future is the Republic of Turkey.

We can say that the MHP is the advancing arm and the pride of Turkish politics. Whatever the fate of the Turk and the Turkish nation is, the fate of the MHP is the same. For 55 years, we have been in the language and in the wishes. There are responsibilities to having a cause and a claim.

It has been understood that there is no path forward with the CHP. The current CHP has not only become "dem"-linked (a reference to the DEM Party), but has also fallen into crisis and chaos. It has turned into a party where whoever grabs it keeps it. It has been exposed who defended the two terrorists who attacked the Çağlayan Courthouse and were killed by the timely intervention of our police, and who the CHP is, which read in Parliament the letter written by one of these scoundrels while he was in prison.

"THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT IS A NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE"

The Constitutional Court is a national security issue. It cannot go on like this! The AYM, which shakes internal peace and the environment of tranquility with its scandalous rulings on rights violations and confirms that it is a center for producing chaos, must either be closed or restructured from scratch. Operations are being conducted against our country. On March 31, the puppets of these operations will be held to account. The new address of the CHP is Qandil. The DEM has chained the CHP with threats. Mr. Özgür has thrown in the towel early and has finally messed up. The People's Alliance will protect the state.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The Constitutional Court had issued two rulings of rights violations regarding imprisoned TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay, but the Court of Cassation did not recognize the rulings.

While the Court of Cassation made a decision to strip Atalay of his parliamentary seat, AKP member Bekir Bozdağ, who was serving as Acting Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) during Numan Kurtulmuş's trip abroad, read the decision regarding the stripping of Atalay's seat.

Constitutional Court President Zühtü Arslan, in his farewell speech before leaving office, emphasized the unimplemented AYM rulings and said:

"It is not conducting an appellate review, but a review of constitutionality. There is no legal basis or foundation for not complying with AYM rulings on the grounds that there are differences of opinion after the AYM's decision. We may not like or agree with them, but their implementation is a constitutional obligation."
