Did the IYI Party's 'free and independent' decision find support? Survey results reveal

Yöneylem Research has shared the results of its "November 2023 Turkey Politics Panel" study.

The research, conducted through interviews with 2,402 people in 26 provinces, stated a 95 percent confidence interval. The margin of error was recorded as 2 percent.

CITIZENS SAID NO TO THE QUESTION "IS TURKEY BEING MANAGED WELL?"

According to the news in BirGün; participants in the study were asked the question, "In your opinion, is Turkey being managed well or poorly?"

54.9 percent of participants answered "It is being managed poorly." While 18.3 percent answered "It is being managed neither well nor poorly," the rate of those who said "It is being managed well" remained at 26.1 points. Those who answered "I don't know" were only 0.7 percent.

URBAN TRANSFORMATION OR RENT-SEEKING?

To the question, "In recent days, a 'disaster law' has come to the public agenda within the scope of earthquake preparedness. In your opinion, is urban transformation being carried out with the logic of earthquake preparedness or the logic of creating rent?" 54.2 percent of participants answered, "Urban transformation is not being done for earthquake preparedness, but for rent."

While the rate of those who said "Urban transformation practices are being carried out as a precaution against earthquakes" remained at 32.9 points, the rate of those who answered "I don't know" was 12.9 percent.

50+1

The study also asked about the message from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the need to change the 50+1 requirement in the Presidential Election.

To the question, "Are you in favor of or against changing the 50+1 requirement?" the vast majority of participants answered, "No, I am against changing the 50+1 requirement."

CITIZENS STOOD BY CAN ATALAY

Another issue asked to the participants was the non-implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision regarding Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Hatay MP Can Atalay by the Court of Cassation.

To the question, "Would you consider the non-implementation of Constitutional Court decisions by lower courts as a 'judicial coup'?" 50.7 percent answered, "Yes, the non-implementation of Constitutional Court decisions is a 'judicial coup'."

Those who answered "No, I do not see the non-implementation of Constitutional Court decisions as a 'judicial coup'" remained at 27.5 percent. The rate of those who said "I don't know" was 21.7 percent.

IYI PARTY'S "FREE AND INDEPENDENT" DECISION

Another topic in the research was "the IYI Party's post-election policies."

The vast majority of participants did not find the post-election policy of the IYI Party, which rejected the CHP's cooperation offer in the local elections and announced that it would enter the elections with its own candidates in 81 provinces, to be correct.

The answers of the participants to the question, "Do you find the rhetoric and policy adopted by the IYI Party after the May 14 and 28 elections correct?" are as follows:

LATEST VOTE SHARES

The study also stated the vote share parties would receive "if there were a parliamentary election this Sunday." When undecided voters were distributed, it was observed that there was a decline in the vote shares of the AKP and the IYI Party.

The AKP, which received 36.60 percent of the vote in the May 14, 2023 Parliamentary Election, fell to 32.8 points. The IYI Party, which reached a vote share of 9.90 percent on May 14, fell to 5.5 points following its alliance decision in the local elections.

According to the research, a partial increase was observed in the votes of the CHP, which experienced a change in chairmanship.

It was observed that the CHP, which nominated Saadet, Gelecek, DEVA, and Democrat Party MPs from its own lists on May 14 and received 25.80 percent of the vote, increased its vote share to 26 points, showing a partial increase. In the study, it was observed that HEDEP also increased its vote by 0.5 points compared to the May 14 election. HEDEP's vote share was 9.5 percent. The MHP's vote share was stated as 10.6 percent.
