Dilek İmamoğlu responds to İmamoğlu's 'sign if necessary' statement: 'There is no time to lose'

Republican People's Party (CHP) presidential candidate and suspended Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had stated that his colleagues, who were arrested following new detentions targeting the IMM, were being forced to provide false testimony through pressure, threats, and blackmail. He declared, "I am addressing my friends here: Protect your honor, your dignity, your families, and your children. If necessary, sign those fabricated documents knowing they are fake. None of your children's futures are less valuable than my freedom. I will bear the burden of those signatures alone."

"WE HAVE NO TIME TO LOSE"

İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, also shared the following remarks on her social media account:

"Ekrem İmamoğlu says he will shoulder all the responsibility alone to protect his colleagues and their families. He is fighting to make the injustices and lawlessness known to the millions who stand by justice and to lay them bare before the eyes of our nation. But there is no time left for the future of our country. I am calling out to the leaders of society, legal experts, all parties defending democracy, the business world, artists, academics, non-governmental organizations, and every single citizen: We have no time to lose for the future of our country. We cannot allow the normalization of lawlessness.

We cannot leave those arrested by the created unjust order, the families who are practically punished with practices that defy conscience, and the children and youth whose futures are being buried in darkness, to fend for themselves. We cannot be saved alone, and we cannot live in prosperity, happiness, and peace on these lands alone. Protecting both justice and democracy is our collective responsibility. Now is the time for us to be together, to raise our voices together for rights and law, and to fight together for our democracy. Yes, we have no time to lose. Let us speak out together; let us defend the future of our country side by side, shoulder to shoulder."
