Dilek İmamoğlu on Mahir Polat: We have reached the point of being happy for house arrest
Dilek İmamoğlu, wife of Ekrem İmamoğlu, commented on the decision to place Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mahir Polat under house arrest due to health issues while he was being held at Silivri Prison.
Dilek İmamoğlu, wife of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held at Silivri Prison, stated, "Unfortunately, we have reached the point of being happy even for house arrest. Millions of citizens followed Mahir Polat's health condition for days with their hearts in their mouths. His release from Silivri yesterday with the house arrest decision brought a small measure of relief to all of us during these difficult days."
In a statement shared on her social media account, Dilek İmamoğlu said the following:
'Our country is going through difficult days. We will leave these days behind with a sense of solidarity and unity. We will build a fair, democratic, and equal future together; none of us has any doubt about this.
Unfortunately, we have reached the point of being happy even for house arrest. Millions of citizens followed Mahir Polat's health condition for days with their hearts in their mouths. His release from Silivri yesterday with the house arrest decision brought a small measure of relief to all of us during these difficult days. However, we know that the conscience of this society will never be silenced until those who were unlawfully arrested regain their full freedom. This morning, we woke up to the news that journalists, who would have gone to testify when summoned, were once again detained in dawn raids on their homes.
But against all these efforts of intimidation and harassment, there is the voice of millions who say "rights, law, justice." We will continue to fight together for days when political prisoners and young people who use their constitutional rights to speak out for democracy, justice, and equality regain their freedom, when members of the press can freely pursue the truth, and when everyone can live their fundamental rights and freedoms under equal conditions.'
Our country is going through difficult days. We will leave these days behind with a sense of solidarity and unity. We will build a fair, democratic, and equal future together; none of us has any doubt about this.

Unfortunately, we have reached the point of being happy even for house arrest. Millions of citizens followed Mahir… for days.
