Dilek İmamoğlu’s Silivri call to Bahçeli: 'See the injustices for yourself'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been in detention for 250 days. In a statement made via the Family Solidarity Network, Dilek İmamoğlu emphasized the legitimacy of their demands and stressed the importance of democracy and the rule of law. She stated, "We are asking for what should be in a state governed by the rule of law."

DEMAND FOR LIVE BROADCAST ON TRT

Dilek İmamoğlu called for a "fair and transparent trial," reminding that the indictment against Ekrem İmamoğlu, which seeks over 2 thousand years of imprisonment, was accepted by the court yesterday. She remarked, "We want the law to take its course from here on. Let the court be broadcast live on TRT. Let everything happen before the eyes of the nation."

REMINDER OF CONSTITUTIONAL NEUTRALITY TO TRT

İmamoğlu reminded that TRT broadcasts using the taxes of 86 million people and emphasized that it must act in accordance with the neutrality provision in the Constitution. She further stated that the right of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who received 15 and a half million votes, and his team to the presumption of innocence must not be violated.

BAHÇELİ’S STATEMENTS AND REACTION

Reacting to MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli’s remark that there is no difference between going to Silivri and going to İmralı, Dilek İmamoğlu used the following expressions in her statement:

"As a citizen living in this country, I could not believe it when I heard those words. I was very saddened and found it difficult to understand. After the unlawful process we have been experiencing for 8 months, this was very heavy. I watched with astonishment as Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has dedicated his years to this country, became the subject of such a comparison."

SİLİVRİ CALL

In her call to Bahçeli, Dilek İmamoğlu raised two questions:

"If there is no difference between going to Silivri and going to İmralı, why didn't you send a delegation, including representatives from your own party, to Silivri to see the injustice done to my husband and hundreds of his colleagues for yourself?"

"Why didn't we take a common stance against injustices? This is not a reproach, but rather a call for solidarity."

JOINT DECLARATION AND CALL FOR JUSTICE

Expressing that she finds Bahçeli’s demand for the IMM court case to be broadcast live on TRT valuable, Dilek İmamoğlu said, "Then, by all means. Let us all defend a fair and transparent trial, and trial without detention. If a true atmosphere of peace and brotherhood is desired, this is the way to achieve it. I invite everyone to speak out against this unjust order."
