Diplomatic note from Iran to Bulgaria... 'Do not let the US use them'

Iran has issued a diplomatic note to NATO member Bulgaria, warning against the use of Bulgarian airports by US military aircraft.

It has emerged that the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a diplomatic note to NATO member Bulgaria last month, warning that US military aircraft should not use Bulgarian airports.

Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Marin Raykov confirmed at a press conference today that Iran had sent a diplomatic note, emphasizing that diplomatic relations with Iran are continuing.

Raykov stated, 'Bulgaria is not at war, and no fighter jets are being dispatched through Bulgaria to participate in military operations. Our parliament has not taken any decision to support military actions in the Strait of Hormuz region.'

'NATO THREAT EMPHASIS'

Reports in the Bulgarian media at the end of February indicated that some US military aircraft had landed at Sofia Airport. Officials had explained that the aircraft in question were present as part of NATO's forward deployment activities.
