Disciplinary process in CHP: Names appointed as trustees to Istanbul administration referred to the High Disciplinary Board

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has referred Gürsel Tekin, Zeki Şen, Hasan Babacan, Müjdat Gürbüz, and Erkan Narsap, who were appointed as trustees to the Istanbul Provincial Administration by court order, to the High Disciplinary Board (YDK) with a request for permanent expulsion. Following this decision, the memberships of all five individuals were suspended as a precautionary measure.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST?

In the lawsuit filed for the cancellation of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress, the court decided on October 8, 2023, to remove the current administration from office.

During this process, it was decided that 196 delegates would also be removed from their duties, and the congress process was halted.

Gürsel Tekin, who announced his resignation from the CHP in 2024, was appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency.

While Tekin stated that he would accept the position, CHP leader Özgür Özel announced that Tekin had been expelled from the party.

Following these developments, delegates of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress began collecting signatures at a notary public with a demand for an extraordinary congress. İmamoğlu, who has been detained in Silivri since March 23, also participated in this signature campaign.
