Dismissed CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç resigns: Announces he will join the NEW Party
Çağatay Güç, who was referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion, announced that he has resigned from his CHP membership and will take part in the NEW Party led by Özgür Özel.
Çağatay Güç, who was dismissed from his post as CHP İzmir Provincial Chair and referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion, has announced his resignation from the party.
In a written statement, Güç announced that he would take part in the political movement initiated under the leadership of NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel.
Following the court's "absolute nullity" decision and the subsequent process within the CHP administration, Güç—who was dismissed by the management appointed by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu—pointed to the country's economic and social problems in his statement. Güç stated that they would devote their energy not to intra-party debates, but to the expectations of the people and the "march to power."
Güç argued that the AKP government and circles he described as having an "absolute nullity mentality" were making efforts to shrink and fragment the CHP. Using the phrase "Today, everything starts anew" in his statement, Güç said they were heeding the public's call to "open a new path."
Stating that they are leaving the CHP as the elected provincial chair and administration in İzmir, Güç noted that they would be part of a new beginning. Güç claimed that district chairs, district administrations, and women's and youth branches in İzmir would also join this new march in a planned manner by Wednesday.
Emphasizing İzmir's pioneering role in his statement, Güç said, "Not for office, but for the nation. Not for the seat, but for the country. We are marching not for personal calculations, but for the future of our children."
