Dispute between Oktay Vural and İbrahim Özkan over 'Muharrem Erkek': 'Where did he learn about his candidacy?'

As resignations and purges continue unabated within the İYİ Party, a social media dispute has erupted between İBB İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman İbrahim Özkan and İYİ Party Political Affairs Chairman Oktay Vural. Vural questioned how Özkan learned of Muharrem Erkek's candidacy for the CHP metropolitan municipality nomination, while Özkan asked whether Vural's son would continue to work at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB).

Dispute between Oktay Vural and İbrahim Özkan over 'Muharrem Erkek': 'Where did he learn about his candidacy?'

Following the CHP's announcement yesterday of Muharrem Erkekas its Çanakkale Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate, a social media spat broke out between İYİ Party Political Affairs Chairman Oktay Vural and İBB İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman İbrahim Özkan, who resigned from the party last week.

Vural, who called Özkan a 'backdoor diplomat,' stated the following:

"Interesting...

The CHP Party Assembly designated Mr. Muharrem Erkek as the Çanakkale Mayoral Candidate on December 21.

What is interesting is that this self-styled 'backdoor diplomat,' who has been dismissed from the İYİ Party, had approached our Çanakkale Municipal Council member five days before the candidate was determined, promising positions and status in exchange for resignation, and stated that Mr. Erkek would definitely be the candidate and that he would arrange a meeting with him, noting that they had discussed this matter with the Chairman.

In other words, the 'backdoor diplomat' knew for certain about the mayoral candidate long before the CHP Party Assembly.

How did he learn it? Through the front door? From whom? It makes me want to ask whose hand is in whose pocket...

Deep relationships..."

"WILL YOUR SON CONTINUE TO WORK AT THE ABB?"

Responding to Vural's post, İbrahim Özkan stated that the request in question had come from the İYİ Party council member and posed the following questions:

"Since you are 'Free and Independent,' will your son continue to work at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality? With so many hardworking young people in the İYİ Party who hang banners and distribute brochures, with what political morality can you explain appointing your other son as a consultant to the İYİ Party TBMM group?"
