Ekrem İmamoğlu answers the question everyone is wondering: Will he be a presidential candidate?
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was asked, "Will you be the CHP's candidate in the next election?" during a meeting held at Feshane. The question caused laughter in the room, leading İmamoğlu to pause for a moment. Here is İmamoğlu's response...
IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's press conference at Feshane drew interest from journalists representing international media outlets. During the meeting, a journalist from the Czech Republic asked İmamoğlu, "Will you be the CHP's candidate in the next election?"
According to a report by Hilmi Hacaloğlu from VOA Turkish, the question caused laughter in the room. Pausing for a moment, İmamoğlu asked, "Would it be enough if I just laughed like you in response?"
"THAT WAS ALSO 'GOD KNOWS'"
Following this, İmamoğlu responded to the question as follows:
"I knew that press representatives like you would ask this question. I have made it a principle not to give the same answer I gave to a member of the press who came to our country right after the previous election. That was 'God knows.' I am not even giving that answer now. I am aware of my work. The issue is not about a single individual. I take pride in being part of a strong team that looks at the issue holistically.
Together, we dream of a process where democratic understanding and a social democratic structure will prevail throughout Turkey through good practices. We are walking this path together."
