Ekrem İmamoğlu gives a very harsh response to Murat Kurum regarding 'City Restaurants'

Continuing his local election campaign, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Rainwater Tunnels in Küçükçekmece.

Speaking at the ceremony, İmamoğlu responded harshly to the remarks made by his rival Murat Kurum targeting the City Restaurants.

"HE WILL OWE A FULL-THROATED APOLOGY TO OUR PEOPLE"

"As far as I know, a slip of the tongue lasts a few seconds; you don't have a slip of the tongue that lasts for several sentences," said İmamoğlu, adding, "This actually reveals a mindset. This is not a matter that can be brushed off with a few words. I will continue to bring this up until he apologizes to everyone, from the students to the retirees, who queue up in front of those city restaurants that millions of people benefit from. There is no such thing as a slip of the tongue; he will owe a full-throated apology to our people."

"HE IS PLAYING BLIND, DEAF, AND DUMB"

Reminding everyone of Murat Kurum's remarks about Kanal Istanbul during his time as minister, İmamoğlu stated, "Just recently, he was saying 'we will do it' regarding Kanal Istanbul. Now he is playing blind, deaf, and dumb. He says it is not on Istanbul's agenda. But on the other hand, his own ministry continues to hold tenders. But since his words have no value, the person whose words should actually be valuable is not speaking; we are waiting to see what he will say."

WHAT DID KURUM SAY ABOUT CITY RESTAURANTS?

AKP and MHP's IMM candidate Murat Kurum had said regarding the City Restaurants, "We will eliminate that fear and insecurity in Istanbul and bring peace back to Istanbul. It amazes us that presenting the city restaurant as a project to this Istanbul is talked about as if it were a huge project. Dear friends, we can open restaurant social facilities in all 39 districts of Istanbul in two nights. We are tired and exhausted of these discourses aimed at deceiving the nation by presenting this as if it were a job, a feat, and giving half a tea glass of water or milk as if it were a service."
