Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu made a statement regarding the resignations of Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik and Capital Markets Board (SPK) Chairman Mahmut Sütçü, as well as the removal of Can Aksoy, who had been appointed as a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality.
Sharing on his social media account, İmamoğlu evaluated the developments with criticisms directed at the government.
In his post, which began with the words, "The deputy minister has requested his retirement, the SPK Chairman has resigned," İmamoğlu reacted to the way these decisions were announced to the public.
You cannot let the political and bureaucratic perpetrators of the 'HEIST OF THE CENTURY' and the fund scammers escape; you will be held accountable to the nation!
Touching upon the removal decision at the Esenyurt Municipality, İmamoğlu stated, "The Esenyurt trustee has been removed," and added, "You, the plunderers of the national will, cannot hide your corruption and your towers of money; you will be held accountable."
In his post, İmamoğlu also criticized the operations targeting mayors, journalists, and dissidents, targeting the government through the rhetoric of a "Dark Order." He concluded his statement with the words, "Take your hands off the nation's pockets, its freedom, and its future! The nation is standing tall, enough is enough! Get off the nation's back!"
