Ekrem İmamoğlu responds to Meral Akşener's remarks about him

During the live broadcast, İmamoğlu spoke on topics including how he would convince undecided voters, whether Istanbul is prepared for an earthquake, and the projects he has completed and plans to undertake. 

When asked about Akşener, Ekrem İmamoğlu replied, "I have frozen the process regarding Ms. Akşener at the point where I had a good relationship and a sincere environment. In my memory, it stays right there."

IMM Mayor İmamoğlu answered Özdemir's questions during the live broadcast. Here are the answers to those questions...

"THOSE WHO PREFER ISTANBUL, NOT THE CANAL, SHOULD VOTE FOR US"

Ekrem İmamoğlu answered the question, 'Why should voters vote for İmamoğlu?' in points.

1. They will be electing a mayor who listens to the demands of the people and fulfills them.

2. For the first time in the last 30 years, a municipal process has been managed this transparently and in front of the public. It has been an IMM managed with transparency and accountability.

3. For the first time, a strong concept of alliance prevails. This creates a great peaceful foundation. We are managing a process where a multi-party base is voting. It will be good for social peace and tranquility. Everyone who is moving away from polarization should vote for us.

4. They have elected an administration that has been the most productive and investment-oriented of the last 30 years, while also reaching the highest level in social assistance. They chose this in 2019, and we will take it even further. From nurseries to metro construction, we have built the strongest infrastructure for the IMM. We have buried the concept of betrayal in the history of the IMM. We are an understanding that rejects betrayal, accepts service to Istanbul, rejects waste, and accepts savings.

Finally, those who prefer Istanbul, not the Canal, should vote for us," he stated.

"WE HAVE DOUBLED THE METRO"

Upon Cüneyt Özdemir saying, "You said you would double the metro in Istanbul," İmamoğlu replied, "We did. I don't know what you took word for word, but we opened 65 kilometers of metro."

"OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ÖZGÜR ÖZEL IS NOT BAD"

When asked by Cüneyt Özdemir about allegations of tension between Özgür Özel and himself, İmamoğlu stated, "My relationship with the Chair is a new-generation relationship. There is respect. There is no third party between us. Politically, our Provincial Chair conducts things with him. We have a very respectful and at the same time very sincere dialogue. Our relationship is not bad."

"THERE IS NO DIALOGUE, THERE IS A MONOLOGUE"

Ekrem İmamoğlu says the following regarding Akşener, "Mr. Cüneyt, I have a very good trait. Sometimes, with certain people, I freeze the process at the point where I had a good relationship and a sincere environment. I have frozen it now. I don't hear anything. My memory stays there. I am where the dialogues were before the troubled process. There is no dialogue, there is a monologue. I have such important issues that it doesn't concern me.

WHAT HAD AKŞENER SAID?

Accusing those who left the IYI Party of switching to the CHP in the local election race, Akşener said, "They have shared Ankara; I don't know about Istanbul, down to the names. For example, our former Ankara Provincial Chair and GIK member Yetkin Öztürk is supposedly coming to Polatlı. But they are supposedly going to be candidates from the CHP... That's what I understood from the conversation. More interestingly, Yakup Odabaşı is supposedly coming to Gölbaşı. I have no news of any of them."

Accusing those responsible for these developments of interfering in the internal affairs of another party, Akşener said, "Do you know what this means? It means interfering in the internal affairs of a political party. We experienced this in 1997 in the True Path Party (DYP). I am experienced in this regard. As of now, I accept this as a declaration of war. I am in, let them come..."

Akşener reacted harshly to IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş. The IYI Party leader accused Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş of being afraid and not accepting the will of the nation.

Akşener said, "I had an epiphany yesterday; Mr. Erdoğan knows. İmamoğlu will learn too. I was there when Mr. Erdoğan was going to prison. I was the one who took care of his children. I was there when the police point in front of his house was removed. But I was the one who heard the harshest insults."

Meral Akşener continued: "Similarly, I went to Saraçhane for the second time. Those who curse today took things as far as my late mother back then. But I didn't open my mouth until they won. I took them to that table, I was kicked out of the table. But both of them (Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş) were afraid and did not accept the will of the nation."
