Ekrem İmamoğlu's harsh criticism of operations: 'A clear threat to every citizen'

The operations carried out in Adana, Adıyaman, and Antalya in the morning hours drew a reaction from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Making a statement on his social media account, İmamoğlu stated that democracy has been suspended and that actions have moved outside the rule of law.

"UNLAWFUL INTERVENTION HAS MOVED TO OTHER CITIES"

Stating that the detention and arrest of elected mayors is unacceptable, İmamoğlu said, "The unlawful intervention that began in Istanbul has now moved to other cities. While elected figures are being targeted, immunity is being granted to slanderers."

Furthermore, emphasizing that what is happening is an intimidation not only against the opposition party but also against the millions of citizens who voted for them, İmamoğlu said that the sense of justice has been damaged and that there is an attempt to polarize society.

İmamoğlu added, "This process is a clear threat to every citizen living in Turkey."

İmamoğlu concluded his statement with the following words: "Our nation is great and possesses the will to judge not the elected, but those who plan lawlessness. Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation, and for this reason, we entrust ourselves first to God, and then to this noble nation."
