'Election waste' in Bilecik Municipality, which passed from AKP to CHP

The Republican People's Party (CHP) continues to disclose the debts of the municipalities it has taken over.

Most recently, CHP Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı stated that when she took office, they found a debt of 64 million 872 thousand liras and were faced with unpaid electricity bills.

The Bilecik Municipality May municipal council meeting was held at the Sheikh Edebali Culture and Congress Center under the chairmanship of CHP Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı.

The 6th item on the agenda was the authorization of the mayor for domestic borrowing. The agenda item in question was accepted with the votes of CHP and AK Party members, while MHP members voted 'against'. This agenda item was accepted unanimously.

Explaining 'why she requested domestic borrowing' after this agenda item, Subaşı said, "On January 13, our current debt status was 40 million 990 thousand liras and our Iller Bank share was around 48 million. When we arrived on April 3, we found the debt to be 64 million 872 thousand liras, and our cash status, including the Iller Bank share, was around 28 million. So, what I am trying to explain is that while there was a balanced expenditure, we have encountered an interesting cash situation. Now we have a debt of 40 million, but we had 48 million in our cash. However, when we arrived on April 3, the cash was 28 million and the debt was around 64 million. Of course, I think we also reflected the total debt."

"ELECTRICITY AND BANK DEBTS WERE NOT PAID"

Continuing her statement, Subaşı said, "There is also a situation like this; I would like to summarize the 75-day situation for you. Additional labor recruitment expenses are 5 million 933 thousand liras, direct procurement expenses are 17 million 613 thousand liras, tax debt is an additional one and a half million in 75 days, reference waste collection is 11 million 400 thousand liras; this means we never paid our debt. This was not included in the picture we left behind. That is why, as soon as we arrived, we were faced with both unpaid electricity bills, Biosun debts, and reference debts. Of course, while we were receiving nice congratulatory visits from our citizens, there was also the back side of the business. Such as the stopping of waste collection. When the electricity bill is not paid, the mayor is directly held liable, and the interest accrued is around 200 thousand liras; we encountered such problems. Even our routine bank debt had not been paid. I think this is a very routine figure for us, it was around 1-1.5 million, at points that could be balanced. For the first time, we did something like this: we asked the bank, 'Please do not take it from us on Monday, let's postpone it to Friday, let this be special only for this month'."
