Emphasis on 'permanent ceasefire': Foreign Minister Fidan calls for an independent Palestinian State
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke at the International Strategic Communication Summit. Addressing the developments in Gaza, Fidan stated, "An independent Palestinian State must come to life."
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke at the "International Strategic Communication Summit" organized by the Directorate of Communications in Istanbul.
CALL FOR A FULL CEASEFIRE
Minister Fidan included the following statements in his remarks:
"We are engaged in intense diplomacy based on a two-state solution. In our initiatives and meetings, we observe that it is accepted that the only solution to the Israel-Palestine issue is the realization of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
However, this is not enough. It is not possible to achieve a real peace by allowing Israel to cover up one war crime with another. We must implement a permanent solution with new narratives and methods.
A full ceasefire must be achieved, and aid must enter Gaza without interruption.
As Turkey, we have presented our proposal for a guarantor system on this matter. We will not refrain from taking on the responsibility that falls upon us and standing by our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
I repeat what I have said in our private contacts and international meetings: the support given to Israel is a blank check for the killing of more Palestinians. Real peace is possible with justice and with international cooperation."
