Erdal Beşikçioğlu has made his decision: Will he stay in the CHP or join the NEW Party?

Following the resignation of 91 deputies from the CHP and their decision to operate under the umbrella of the New Party—a process that also involved Özgür Özel—all eyes have turned to the stance of the mayors. During this period, the direction of Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu's decision was also on the agenda of political circles.

Journalist Deniz Zeyrek stated that nearly all of the municipal council members in Etimesgut Municipality have resigned from the CHP and joined the New Party. However, Zeyrek claimed that Beşikçioğlu has decided to remain in the CHP.

Zeyrek argued that concerns regarding potential operations and arrests may have influenced Beşikçioğlu's decision. Stating that various allegations have been coming from contractors in Etimesgut, Zeyrek made the following assessment:

''Many such allegations are coming from contractors in Etimesgut. I suppose Etimesgut will also feel that it has secured itself by remaining on the side of the nullity.''

It is noted that following the establishment of the New Party, some CHP mayors have declared their support for Özgür Özel, while others have left the party to join the New Party.
